Well that didn't work. After my first post, the tornado hit. I consider myself a "get 'er done" sort of girl, and once I started unpacking the house, there was no stopping me. Unpacking quickly turned into decorating, which snowballed into starting projects that I truly intended to capture in detail but disastrously failed.
Here is the very first "home-to-do" list I wrote and the progress we've made:
· Unpack every single box
· Hang curtain rods in the kitchen
· Buy/hang curtains in the kitchen
· Buy/paint/hang molding over the top of the sliding glass doors in the kitchen to hide ugly metal trim
· Replace all outlet covers
· Hire a painter
· Hire an electrician
· Replace master bedroom mirrors (custom frames are made, now we just need the mirrors..)
· Tile over existing fireplace stone
· Organize a space for my jewelry
· Buy a kitchen island
· DIY island stools
· Mount family room TV
· Replace all interior door handles- see ya later gold!
· Replace both front door handles- see ya later gold!
· Replace all interior door hinges- see ya later gold!
· Cut out grass for fire pit area
· Lay rock in fire pit area (getting bids because DIY might require too much time my hubby doesn't have. sigh..)
· Paint kitchen cabinets or replace the doors/drawers?
· Pull up ugly tacky paper from hall linen closet
· Order blinds for the master bedroom
· Order blinds for the family room
· Add lights to the outside of our patio cover
Here is my current list of DIY crafts and projects that I hope to accomplish in the near future:
· Front porch wall sign
· Framed ribbon holder
· Kitchen window curtain (no sew)
· Update thrift light fixture for front porch
· Update old master bath mirror for family room
· Organize hall linen closet with baskets and labels
· Veggie/herb garden planters
We have heard it over 1,000 times since we bought our home. The lists never end. I get it, I always did get it. So thankfully, I love making lists. My cell phone notebook and I are BFFs and I couldn't live without it. Truthfully, I would rather hand write notes, and I definitely still do, but the convenience of my phone makes it the winning medium a majority of the time.
Well, here is to my obvious New Year's resolution... get cracking on my projects and document them in detail to share with my five friends that will most likely read this!
